Successfully downgrade iPhone 3gs (new boot rom) from ios 5.0.1 to 4.1 WITHOUTH SHSH BLOBS

Steps:
1. with your iPhone 3gs powered on plug it into your computer
2. Power off your iPhone
3. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and open the hosts file
4. DELETE ANY LINES that say apple.com and SAVE IT
5. Close iTunes if it is open, and open iREB
6. Follow the instructions to enter PWNED DFU MODE ( i can not stress this enough it MUST be in PWNED DFU mode NOT DFU MODE.
7. Once your iPhone is successfully exploited with limera1n open iTunes
8. Hold SHIFT and click on the -Restore- button
9. Select the custom 4.1 ipsw file i provided.
10. Sit back and wait for it to restore

It says the cannot create the host file. make sure the path and file name are correct.... it wont let me save. any iea how to fix this?

Oh Brilliant ! Thankyou! Apple should post a health warning about iTunes upgrading a 3GS to this 5.0.1. My only worry was that the upgrade also moved the modem firmware up to 05.16.05, so would the phone still work after returning to version 4.1 (which needs baseband 5.14.02)? Well I've downgraded it and it seems to be ok (with b/band still at 5.16.05).
