Grace Pettis performs "Heart is a Compass," a new song, live at Blue Rock Studio in Wimberley, TX. Help from Billy Crockett (guitar) and Dirje Smith (cello).
Lyrics:
HEART IS A COMPASS
by Grace Pettis
There's a hole in the heel of my walking boots.
These shoes got soles, they're holy too.
Some things in this life are just tried and true.
Hey, I found Jesus and Emmylou.
And if I've got time I have to spend,
If I've got life I haven't yet lived,
These things I know are plenty enough.
This heart is a compass, it's fixed on love.
There's a map in the door of my beat up car.
I don't travel in style but I go real far.
And I know the names of the big interstates.
I take the high road there, take them old highways.
And if I've got time I have to spend,
If I've got life I haven't yet lived,
These things I know are plenty enough.
This heart is a compass, it's fixed on love.
(Instrumental break)
Well, I don't know much but I know my place.
I've been washed in the blood of amazing grace.
And I walk by faith, I live by love,
Born again in the place where I come from.
I've got time I have to spend,
If I've got life I haven't yet lived,
These things I know are plenty enough.
This heart is a compass, it's fixed on love.

Good fruit from a good tree. Pierce is one of the best living songwriters and a wonderful singer/musician, and seems Grace is all that already.
