2/5/10: I felt I needed a break from everything, so my mom and I drove up the coast for the day. I of course had to stop to catch the usual Amtrak action, but at some interesting spots. Many trains were late, but that didn't stop me from waiting for them. The day culminated with an awesome sunset. Please enjoy!
1) Nancy takes 774 south thru Rose Ave in Oxnard (:p), with a rare set of 2 engines, no cab-car, and 2 superliners! 455 and 453 powered the set.
2) A UP ballast train heads thru California St. in Ventura and on to the great 101 FWY bridge. a lone SD70M 4535 backs the set through the city.
3) A very late Amtrak 763 with a different engineer flies thru California St with 459 leading.
4) Later in the day, up in Carpinteria, the same set returns as 784, with Cabcar 6953, and an interesting horn show.
5) The Coast Starlight #14 blows thru north with some extra Amfleet cars and a PV, Overland Trail. Idk why I turned the shot, it messed it up :(
6) Amtrak 769 arrives and departs Carpinteria with 454 and 6952.
7) Later, after a really long time of waiting, 792 careens thru the crossing at Seacliff. 510 and 90208 are both back on this train.
8) Driving down PCH, 775 heads north at Seacliff, as seen here with a nice wave from the engineer.
I end the video with some shots of a beautiful sunset.
Haha, the engineer on 784 was just playing with the horn thru the crossing. Nice job!
