This is off their first album in 1966, The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators...

I've seen your face before,
I've known you all my life.

And though it's new,
your image cuts me like a knife.

And now I'm home.
And now I'm home.
And now I'm home, to stay.

The neon from your eyes is splashing into mine.
It's so familiar in a way I can't define.

And now I'm home.
And now I'm home.
And now I'm home, to stay.

And though this is awful speedy,
We needn't bother sleeping,
All we might say is understood.

And now I'm home.
And now I'm home.
And now I'm home, to stay.

The fierceness of my feelings,
rocks me like a war.
It's good to know we won't be strangers anymore.

And now I'm home.
And now I'm home.
And now I'm home, to stay.

And now I'm home.
And now I'm home.
And now I'm home, to stay.

  • What a TRIP!!!!

  • So bittersweet...!

  • Great song. Sounds like the inspiration for it comes from the Everly Brothers (crying in the rain). Music by Carole King.

  • sarabeth tucek does a great cover of this song. gotta find out where i found it must be on a compilation cd.

  • Hearing this song for the first time was life changing experience.

  • I too have just discovered this band shit man where have they/i been all these years? they are fucking awesome ;D

  • This is how the lyrics sounded to me:

At 1:42: "And though this is our first meeting, We needn't bother speaking, All we might say is understood"

At 2:43: "Tbe business of our feeling(s), Rocks me like a whore"

(I distinctly recall the word "whore" creating a minor controversy on Houston AM radio, possibly KILT, when this was played there in 1968; a debate with call-in listeners went on about whether the station should continue playing the song.)

  • That album cover throws me , when did they realise that , I looked for my old Green one , bought at The Living Eye from the Elevators .

The Clique covered this but they were bubble gum , did not dare show there face where The Elevators played , a tad rougher . The did get coverage for the Elevators, I just love this song , when is Perl Jams Cover coming out .
