Simple if I owed you a large sum of money, and I had not paid you it back would that give you the right to take my truck ? Answer NO as that is my property not yours and has nothing to do with what I owe you. If the title is in my name then it's my truck. So yes he did TAKE WITHOUT CONSENT eg: he stole the truck end of. He "took" it without the lawful consent of the owner.
