why the heck would a child born in or out of wedlock have any affect on the child's propensity to commit crimes? Am I missing something? The father, it seems, would be absent regardless. Anyway, that seemed to be the distinction the blonde woman was making between divorced and single mothers.

Because the earliest years are the most important for a child's development. With unwed mothers the father may not be present at all, with divorcees, he's at least present until the divorce.

I'm sorry I find it hard to "dislike" someone who is so well versed on the on thier views/position even if I don't agree with them. Ann Coulter is the biggest bitch ever and needs to watch her mouth. I was raised my a single mother, who devoted her time between law school, raising me, and now 20 years later am in college in SF doing very well and am not in a street gang and my mother (only one who raised me) is now running for governor of Maine. I think kids with married parents are the crazy ones. The parents are so tied up with their husband/wife that they forget about their kids.
