What a gift! Thank you, rglazier.

please read Oscars autobiographies;i.e. The Memoirs of an Amnesiac.

@haqq84 He was much more than an "underrated pop song pianist". He was a classical composer that studied with Arnold Shoenberg.

@JayDizzl879 Haha..glad to know I'm not the only one!

Exact same with me! I saw Rhapsody in Blue this weekend and I have been trying to learn as much as I can about Oscar Levant since then.

I didn't know anything about Levant until I saw him last night in Rhapsody in Blue on TCM. After one of his scenes I had to find out more about him. Thanks so much for these vids.

How wonderful. I play Levant's "Blame It On My Youth" but have never seen the man. Truly appreciate you posting this video.

I actually watched Levant's shows when I lived in LA back in the '60's. They were and are unbeatable for wit, talent and intelligence. Oscar was a difficult but extremely talented man and raconteur. His guests also included people like Linus Pauling who he had sing. His sometimes on-show battles with his wife June and later their separate competing shows were classic. Thank you for making at least this much available.

Levant was one of the wittiest men that ever existed.
Nice. How Astaire, being a very musical person, immediatly hears what's happening on the piano (4:07)
Don't know how many people realize this is historical stuff? Astaire is great, but Levant is also that, a underrated popsong pianist.
