  • However, I clean them individually by pressing the clam between my index finger and thumb squeezing the visceral material and crystalline style out of the clam, and then using a paring knife to scrape the rest of the visceral material away.

  • My clam digging buddy, Walt rinses them in a colander while pressing them against the side of the colander without destroying the clams. The pressure forces out some of the visceral material and some of the crystalline style. Once the rinse water begins to run clear he dries the clams, seasons them, batters them and deep fries them.

  • How do you clean them? Got a whole bunch of these last year. Tried several methods from internet, soaked with corn meal, etc. Still full of sand. Finally ended up opening em up, manually cleaning and chopping up meat. Still delicious in chowder/pasta.
