@mine1username Yeah, I've seen a lot of Lincolns fold up. I think the steel may not be as thick as the Chryslers were of that time.

only other car that could compete with a boxcar or sub imp is suicide lincoln but it involves alot more work then a imp.
-
On the 64-66 Imps you have a solid fram front to back so you can ram going either direction. Plus there is about 16 inchs of space between the front bumper and your radiator so that keeps it nice and safe.
I have never owned a 67 or later but I know on the 76-74s there is a solid sub-frame on the front so you can front ram all day without taking much damage. You have to protect your trunk because it will fold , much like the entire Lincoln will fold.

Very much agreed.
I currently have a 1974 lincoln town car. No way would I destroy it like this, but it does make me wonder how it would do. My lincoln weighs about 100 pounds more than the heaviest year imperial, but I think the imperial would still win due to the unibody design. Anybody agree with that?

I believe it. But why exactly. Has anyone ever figured it out. It's well known the imperials are the toughest, but is it just because of the unibody and weight?

The 64 - 66 Imperials are full frame cars and the frames are boxed all the way around - that's why they don't like to bend. The 67 - 73 are unibody but the frames on the front have horns in front of the tires (that's what they look like) it make the frontends on those years hard as hell - most derby guys that run them call them hammerheads. You can hit all day with the nose of the 67-73s.
