Lyrics!

E ku'u morning dew, alia mai, alia mai
(My morning dew, wait, wait)
Maliu mai 'oe i ka'u a hea nei
(Heed hither me, to my calling here)
E kali mai 'oe, ia'u nei ia'u nei
(Wait for me, to me here, to me here)
'O wau iho nô me ke aloha.
(I am/remain deeply indeed with love)

Wehe mai ke alaula 'oli liko me lîhau
(Open the joyful, budding light of the early dawn with gentle cool rain)
E ho'ohehelo ana i nei a pâpâlina,
(Become proud of your appearance here and (?) cheeks)
I uka o Mana i ka 'iu uhiwai
(To the uplands of Mana to the heavily misted sacred place)
Ma laila no kâua e pili mau ai
(There for you and me to join together)
Ma laila no kâua e pili mau ai.
(There for you and me to join together.)

(E hana hou i ka paukû mua)
(Repeat the first verse).

  • Gosh, I so miss my parents and the wonderful "houlie" upbrining I had with the Beamers. I've lost touch with them and the only memories I have are of Kawella Bay in the 60's and 70's. Folks say I should not go back now, I'd be disappointed.

I see the Beamer decendants are alive and well. Never lose your roots. Puena, Mahi and Sunbeam will forever be in my heart. Sunbeam sang this song at my mom's funeral...with her rich and memorable voice. I wish I had her in my life now.

  • love this song

  • The name of the horse " Morning Dew" . Was cherished my the late great Queen. Most of the meles have double meaning. The literal, sensual, enviromental and the sexual.

  • For those who don't understand what he's singing about, use the drop down menu , double arrows pointing down, where HawaiinSunset gives a description of what this video is. It will show you the Hawaiian words as well as translation.

  • Isreal Kamakawiw'ole sang about life, it's people, it's land. Always reminding us who we

are. By his music one can tell the message that he inbeds in all of us for home and country. I love this guy. We are all lucky in this generation for having him and sharing all his music. Rest in Peace. Loko Maika'i and Aloha.
