    I've always heard this song as being about a doll that is real but is being treated like a toy, and an evil toy at that: the girl that got the doll puts her up on high shelves and in boxes when she figures out it's alive, but the doll gets out. ("she'll fight for her life, but it's you who dies") The doll scares the girl, and does things, and it's the girl that looks insane as no one believes her when she says the doll's alive. The doll's misunderstood but "evil" enough to put up the good fight.
