Sheikh Ahmed-Barrayn is one of the leading performers of the Sufi song tradition of Egypt. A graduate of the Muslim University of Al-Azhar, Barrayn (pronounced: Beren) has used his distinctive vocals to praise the prophets. Together with his band, featuring Fawzy Hafez (gharb), Salah Hefni Mohamed (tar) and Mahmoud Ahmed Mohamed (naqrzan), Barrayn continues to resurrect this ancient musical tradition.
