This is an excellent excerpt from an excellent audio book, "The End of Faith" by Sam Harris, read by Brian Emerson.

In this excerpt, Sam draws the connection between religiosity and victimless crime. I'm guessing the first victimless crime was blasphemy.

Sorry I haven't made any videos lately. I haven't had a lot of time. Sam says it better than I could anyway. Enjoy!

  • People don't like stoners.

Prostitution, booze and casino gambling are legal lots of places. But marijuana is illegal everywhere.

This video is Sam Harris' brain on drugs.

    Any questions?

  • I love this guy, he seems to be the only one who will follow reason regardless of were it goes.

  • @magcarril I'm not a christian, but to give you more biblical ammo: Genesis 2:16+17, or is Cannabis the tree of knowledge of good and evil? Considering the stupid stuff people tend to do when stoned it doesn't seem so... ;0)

Ave Maria, the virgins child is filled with the holy spirit...

  • @tmafkap thats a powerful statement :) so true

  • The prohibition of consciousness altering (expanding) substances is a form of mind-control, and it's a form of censorship.

  • @magcarril Sorry to be a terrible pedant, but these are not mutually exclusive. Cannabis is both a plant and a drug (or, more accurately, a plant which contains drugs). If we are to win the battle for humane drug laws and bring prohibition to an end, we need at least to be honest about what is really at stake, and make the case that yes, cannabis is a drug, which has risks (albeit less than alcohol) - and that prohibition is a terrible way of trying to address those risks.

  • Marihuana is not a drug..it's a plant..DRUGS ARE SOLD IN PHARMACIES..ABORTION IS LEGAL,& IT'S A SIN. MARIHUANA IS ILLEGAL BUT IT'S NOT A SIN..Genesis 1:29..HERBS BEARING SEED ARE FOR THE SERVICE OF MAN: PAX VIA MUSIC...VIVA MARIA!

  • I live in Nye county Nevada and you can legally carry a gun, gamble at a casino, go to a whore house......But you better not get caught smoking a joint......That's jail time ....

  • I cant wait for all the old religious conservative people to die. Most of their ideas will go with them. They will have tried hard to pass them down, but I think only a few of our educated youth will actually cling to them.

  • @malabear1978 - it's from his audiobook. Read the title.

  • @malabear1978 The narrator is Brian Emerson. His style of reading brings Harris' excellent prose to life. Great stuff.
