During this time of the 2010 season, Al Shemali produced a level of form that he had never produced prior, nor has he been able to duplicate it since? He ran 2 career best races to win the G1 Dubai Duty Free in March, and then to run a really good 3rd in this race. Not beaten far at all by Lizard's Desire and Gloria De Campeao. He's in Godolphin's stable now, and has been racing in the UK again. A pretty well beaten 2nd to Mahbooba in the listed Godolphin Stakes at Newmarket is his best finish.

About the final 25-50 meters of this race. When Lizard's Desire was bearing down on Gloria De Campeao. The Dubai Duty Free winner, Al Shemali, was actually coming almost stride for stride with Lizard's Desire. Then, he had to check off of the back of Lizard's Desire with post looming. If Al Shemali hadn't had to check off of Lizard's Desire, and lost his momentum. It's possible he may have had a shot at winning this race as well. Watch Al Shemali closely with the wire nearing and you'll see.

The form that the horses that raced in Dubai at the 2010 Carnival held up strong in this race. With the 2010 Dubai World Cup second place finisher, Lizard's Desire winning. Dubai World Cup winner, and 09' winner of this race, Gloria De Campeao finishing 2nd. And 2010 Dubai Duty Free winner, Al Shemali finishing a very game 3rd in this race. This was a very good field of competitors. So I believe it speaks well for the horses that raced in Dubai in 2010. JMO.
