Very wrong and bad history. He was an Islamic ruler but a very benevolent one to his subjects and ruthless to traitors and enemies...He attacked the muslim Moplas,Hindu travancore kingdom and Mangalorean Catholics for being traitors...At the same time he gave funds to Ranganath temple in Mysore and helped build St Philomena's church in Mysore.

Contd.. As he defended every gate with his reliable soldiers, he reached upto the inner gate of fort that was the only way that connected the palace with the outer gate. At this point his intension was to get into the inner wall and close the door so that he can make his last stand after killing the british soldiers who has already got into the inner fort. But the killadar Mir Nadeem Closed the inner door of the gate and Tipu was left with no choice rather than to fight and die!

I am a great fan of tipu sultan but; Actually Tipu Sultan could not be considered a freedom fighter because a freedom fighter is one who fights when his kingdom has already being taken by a forign power, so therefore its true to say that Tipu Sulatan fought for his kingdom of Mysore. He is known as the last powerful emperor of India who challenged the britishers with the passion of a TIGER!!

Tippu sultan was not a nationalist.His father was Hyder ali who murdered his hindu king he being the senapati and illegaly took the throne,he merely was fighting for his throne he was also sending messages to the afghan king to come and islamise india .
