i dont use the fruity formula controller atall really, so this might be a noobish type question but, why does the pattern i program into the envelope controller change in the song mode from the pattern mode, im guessing its somthing to do with the lfo or a loop needing to be closed off but not atall sure...

@DrKirsten16 reason is good but FL can create insanity. This video is also just for demonstration purposes. It is about the process, not the sample itself.

Okay so I did what you said but I was hoping that editing the ENV CTRL would actually do something, but it doesn't.

@JakkuShingler Turn up the level on Env Controller if you have not done that. Its default level value is at 0%, you will need it at 100% to work right.

@TheSavageist mess around with a preset called "Fry" under the bass tab. Play with the waveshaper and cutoff knobs under the filter 1 tab. Hope that helps. If I have some free time I'll try and make my own. Saw waves are used a lot in dubstep bass samples.
