This time I uploaded a game being played instead of the replay. As was mentioned by friends, the replays are pretty static since you don't see any of the move paths, dice throws and such.

This game is in five parts since I recorded the after match screens, a player leveling up and the team screen. The next video will be a game played in realtime mode (although I only play turn-based since I'm a purist)

A description of the two races in this game:

Dwarves: Possibly the easiest team to play for new players as all their players begin with useful skills. A very solid team physically, the dwarves do have shortcomings of course. They have by far the worst movement of any race, are notoriously unreliable in the passing game and their team value easily spins out of control and you end up losing money after every match despite winning. So it's a team that usually works better with half its players veterans or better while the rest stay rookies.

Dwarves are one of the most dangerous teams physically and going toe-to-toe with them usually ends badly for the opponent. Ground and pound is the name of the game for them (the latter being more fun).

Skaven on the other hand are pretty much the opposite of dwarves. They have the best movement in the game, a very successful passing game (second to the wood elves) and can often dodge circles around your players. They thrive on quick scoring drives and have enough speed to catch up with opponents that get past their defensive line. They also have one of the better 'big guys' in the game, the rat ogre.

However, skaven are notoriously brittle as their armor class is pretty darn low. On defense they'll try to avoid direct confrontation as often as possible otherwise there's great risk their team gets depleted rapidly. Skaven are a good team for intermediate players and have great potential. Despite having a short lifespan, their players are pretty cheap to hire so losing a few isn't the end of the world (contrary to wood elves whose players cost an arm and a leg)

In this particular game, you'll see just how quick the skaven can be (in the first half) as well as just how deadly dwarves are (in the second half)

Towards the end of the game I use a stalling tactic spending turns at the goal line so that the skaven won't have enough time to come back and tie the game up. In multiplayer, that's frowned upon by some and loved by others (can't make everyone happy really). Since it's the computer, I always play cutthroat Blood Bowl. Against other players, you tend to adjust your strategy and gameplay depending on your adversary. Usually it's better to play nice and not foul towards the end of a game for example but if your opponent is being... difficult... well it can be overlooked ;)

  • i love the game but my computer is so slow i cant make a move without waiting 5 miniuts :(

  • @kroothound That sounds pretty bad. Have you tried turning all the options to minimum? Either way sounds like you need to add a bit of RAM to your computer.

  • Is this game any good?

  • @Rockingdude1990 Only you can answer this question =) Watch the tutorial videos and a few games I uploaded and hopefully you should have your answer. Of course I'm biased so yes I think it's a fun game.

  • Actually I use the deathroller in the second half of the game usually, especially if I start with the ball. At the beginning of a game, a quick score can happen at any time which would get the death roller thrown out of the game prematurely.

  • Is 9 rerolls not illegal?

Have you come across much that goes against the LRB?

  • Well it depends on the team actually. If I'm not mistaken gobbos for example can get up to 10. But there is a bug (or was, not sure if it's been patched yet) that enables the AI getting more than the maximum by using inducements.

However, the computer game does follow the LRB5 rules, it's simply missing a few interesting things like special play cards and weather. (I think they're keeping those things for an expansion which would make sense).

Not perfect but pretty close to the original.

  • Why not get one of those Warmachines for your Dwarf team? Those kick ass, then grind the rest of the body ;)
