This beautiful piece Hymne is perhaps the most famous work of Pierre Villette (1926--1998). Strangely little known in France, his choral works are very familiar and loved by choirs in the UK, USA, Germany and Japan. This performance reclaims his music to a native French choir! The Maîtrise de l'Académie Vocale de Paris champions many forgotten French choral works.

  • Fantastic group! I love the pauses taken on the first few phrases-- I performed this in the Moravian College choir, and it was wonderful. I love this rendition so much!

  • Great to see such young singers perform so well.

  • I first heard this at the annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at King's College Cambridge and, much to my delight, heard it this year. Yes, this group did, indeed, do justice to as beautiful an anthem as I have ever heard.

  • Truly beautiful song.

I sang this in Cambridge's Trinity college Chapel

    Magical moment

  • An amazingly beautiful song done justice by an incredibly talented group.
