Farsi was such a language that about hundred or more years ago any person speaking farsi was considered as a respectable and learned person. This language really had a great impact in the subcontinent.

@sanpatkan dude a correction is invited here...Dil is of persian origin...im pretty positive on that...
just read the later comment-corrections in it are that Maula, arzoo, lab and gutgu have persian origin too...
True@urdu is mixture of languages but does have some words of itself
