A national meeting commemorating the 99th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung was held at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on Thursday.
Present there were senior party, state and army officials, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, service persons of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Interior Forces, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media, bereaved families of revolutionary martyrs, labor innovators, working people in the city, delegations of overseas compatriots and Koreans from abroad and the chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.
Diplomatic envoys of various countries, members of the military attaches corps and representatives of international organizations here and foreign guests were present on invitation.
Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, delivered a report at the meeting.
The reporter referred to the fact that Kim Il Sung was born into a patriotic and revolutionary family in Mangyongdae and embarked upon the road of struggle for the national liberation in his teens.
He led to victory the historic struggle of the Korean people for a long period from the national liberation revolution to socialist construction, performing great feats in the history of the Korean revolution and the struggle for human emancipation, the reporter said, and went on:
Kim Il Sung was a brilliant thinker and theoretician who founded the Juche idea, indicating the most correct path of the revolutionary struggle of the popular masses for independence.
He gave origin to the Songun revolution and led to victory two revolutionary wars, saving the destiny of the country and the nation and laying a solid military foundation for the building of a rich and powerful socialist country.
He successfully accomplished the cause of building the party and the nation in a short span of time after liberation and developed the WPK into an invincible revolutionary party guided by the Juche idea and having its roots struck deep among the broad masses and the government of the DPRK into a genuine power of the people with the popular masses becoming its masters and it serving them.
He freed the Korean people from exploitation and oppression once and for all and built in Korea a socialist power, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence.
He considered national reunification as the greatest task of the nation and worked heart and soul to carry it out all his life and performed undying exploits for the human emancipation and the accomplishment of the cause of global independence.
His revolutionary idea and cause have been successfully carried forward by leader Kim Jong Il.
The reporter underlined the need for all the service persons and people to uphold the revolutionary idea and exploits of the President with pure conscience, carry out the revolution and construction as required by the Juche idea, the Songun idea and the way the President did and devotedly implement his behests in all fields and at all units.
We should wage a fierce all-out offensive and a drive to make a breakthrough to realize the desire of the President for a great prosperous and powerful nation and thus bring about great changes on all fronts and commemorate the centenary of birth of the President as the greatest holiday of Kim Il Sung's nation and a great auspicious holiday of mankind, the reporter urged, and went on:
The army and people of the DPRK will never remain a passive onlooker to the reckless military provocations of the U.S. and the south Korean conservative authorities but mercilessly wipe out the aggressors and surely achieve the historic cause of national reunification.
The DPRK will as ever make positive endeavors to develop the friendly and cooperative relations with all countries friendly to it in the idea of independence, peace and friendship and achieve global independence.
Similar meetings also took place in various provinces, cities and counties on the same day.
