Alfredo Keil Dona Branca - Overture.wmv

Alfredo's Keil first opera "Dona Branca" is about a Christian maid who falls in love with a Saracen during the time of La Reconquista. When he sizes her on the street he decides to dedicate his live to love and pleaser and for that he kidnaps her from a convent and on a flying horse rides with her to heaven. Though they live in happiness soon fate brings them a hard and sad end.

Alfredo Keil is considered has the beginner of a Portuguese type of opera, was friend of Massenet and is the composer of the Portuguese national anthem.
