The Red River is expected to crest at 41 feet above flood stage sometime Saturday. As the floodwaters rise residents, neighbors, volunteers and natioal guard troops pull together to do what they can to save the area. The City of Fargo constructed a 15 foot high dike down the middle of 2nd street. Hundreds of volunteers flocked to the Fargo Dome to fill sandbags which were being delivered throughout the community. FEMA and hundreds of voulnteers stand poised waiting to assist in the clean up efforts.
I would like to give the American Red Cross credit for some of their photos and thank them for being there during this time of need. For information on the Red Cross efforts taking place or to find out what you can do go to http://www.redcross.org/
Good luck to all of the residents and thank you to all that are helping thoses in need.
I live in Moorhead and know how really bad it is. However had we not learned form the 97 flood the outcome would have been much worse. As far as rebuilding, yes some of that will need to happen especially the house in North Moorhead that burned down during the flood. But overall the rebuilding process won't be as bad as it was in 97.
