@mrjimbob100 Danny Boy is not part of Fantasia on British Sea Songs, if that's what you're saying.

this is about a person whose son has left home to go off to war, and he is saying he must go but probably wont return as he might be killed in battle.
-
For me this is about a father's aching love for his son.

We sing this song in our men's choir for about one year with the solo of the first tenor and every time it's breathtaking, how much feeling this song has in itself! It's a fantstic masterpiece of music and I love it very much, especially when it is performed by the ten tenors - watch out! Greetings from Austria!

i want to marry me a good irish woman : ]
The two men were father and son, so get yer mind out of the gutter.... the son is leaving Ireland to find work, but the father must stay behind. Presumably, the son is going to America, even though both he and his father know that they will probably never see each other again. It happened. A beautiful song based in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. If money were no object, I'd rather live there than here, plus I have relatives still over there and I miss them all.
