Hi I hope you can help me. I'm a 4 handicapper but lately I've been hitting the ball on the hosel. The "swipes" on the sole of my irons say I'm coming over the top but I've placed a ball to the inside of the rubber tee on my mat and i've hit the ball and the tee afterward but still I hit it on the hosel and the swipes "say" i'm coming over the top. Have you ever seen anything like this? any help would be greatly appreciated.

One variation: In the Love/Toski/Flick version (later advocated by Kostis, back when his ideas were his own and not affected by every guru for every top player), you also can toss the ball right down where the ball would normally sit on the ground; that's supposed to help you feel the timing of a good release at the ball.

First time I saw this drill spoken of, it was Davis Love II--III's dad. It's a good drill, and it comes from a way of swinging the club that I believe is clearly superior to almost all the guru talk these days.

Honestly, yes and no.
Yes - it gave me a great feel to where I need my arms to be. Also told me that I need to come inside with my swing.
No - It wasn't my swing that I was practicing, it was a ball throw. So, for me, I couldn't translate that ball throw to my actual swing. After the throw I couldn't repeat that 'throw' motion.
Something that has really helped my overall game is a swing method called THE LAWS OF THE GOLF SWING by Jim Suttie. Google it - you won't be disappointed!

What a great tip!
I struggle with an over the top move with my longer irons, hybrid, driver. This simple explanation really helped me to see and FEEL what a proper follow through should be.
Even stood up in my cubicle at work and tried it along with Cody. Can't wait to give it a shot at the range tonight after work.
