The Conrail Historical Society held it's annual convention in Philadelphia this year, and the highlight of the convention was a circle train trip, dubbed as the CONRAIL Express. The trip was powered by Bennett Levin's E8s, and covered quite a distance! First, we catch the train just south of the PA border in Edgemoor Delaware along the Amtrak's high-speed North East Corridor route. Just after the CR Express passes, a north bound Amtrak train flys by the camera. The train then made a turn north in Perryville, MD, and traversed its way up the Susquehanna Valley along NS' Port Road Branch; we managed to catch the special in Columbia, PA at CP COLA. The train then would travel through Enola yard, then cross the Susquehanna again on the famous Rockville Bridge. To our luck, the westbound Amtrak Pennsylvanian met the CR Express right on the bridge! And for out final shot of these beautiful units, we see them at track speed along the Keystone Corridor in Gap, PA. A big thanks goes to the CRHS for putting on a good show!

The song in the begining is "Get Over It" by the Eagles.

  • Scenery was great, no argument from me. I ride SEPTA trains to work every day, so the price of the trip was just a little too steep for me for a ride in septa coaches considering others paid the same price as us and had reclining seats, more leg room, food trays and better access to rest rooms. Sorry, I'm a big railfan also but it doesn't mean I like being treated like cattle.

  • very nice camera work

  • Nah for us it was part of the convention we had in Philly.. We paid cost for the trip so as to help cover our parts of expenses... I didnt mind paying though. It went for a good cause and it was an honor and a pleasure to help and get to know people on the trip!
