I think you need to change your pattern which I purchased "Letty's Bag" You cannot put in the grommet's on two pieces of material plus the interfacing. This was a lot of work and unneccessary if you had tried this project yourself before selling your pattern.

This was very helpful. I had bought a bag from a thrift shop with no straps with the intent on doing something just like this to it. Now I have more of an idea where to start!

This is not easy and does not work. Even cutting some of the batting out the grommets do not snap together. What a waste of money and now I ruined the bag.

We had to remove batting from the areas that were circles about 1/4 inch around inside the bag front and back so the grommets could fit on and stay on. Do you have any suggestions for construction that would allow one not to do that in the end to fit the grommets properly? I wonder if batting would be cut out before the stay stitching is done and then stay stitch the circles.
