Micro expression exercise

How good are you at spotting micro expressions. Watch the woman in the blue skirt to see if you can perceive what she might be feeling, but not openly expressing. This skill is often used in lie detection.

I got the same read you did, but I noticed it in the eyebrows. I know the eyebrows are typically higher when pulled together in fear, but for some reason I was reading fear from it. I didn't notice the neck thing you pointed out, but the fact that here smile was flat (no upward curving) and there was no activity in her eyes brought me to the same conclusion as you.

I love trying to catch MEs in videos rather than pictures. Its so much easier watching a flash of a pic, good vid!

@tdp32 good call on the eyebrows. I have a tendency to focus too much on the mouth. I meant to mention the smile. I probably recorded that six or seven times, and kept saying it different each time. I'm assuming you have read some of Paul Eckman's work. Have you found it impossible to stop reading people sometimes? It happens when someone is BSing. They want you to accept their boast/exaggeration, but you just end up analyzing their body language, facial ticks, and vocal intonation.

@JustusScottJr Yea I actually took his online ME course. I too can't help but read people sometimes, but tend to notice lies better through their other tells (shoulder movement, breathing, hand gestures, chosen words etc) better than I can with MEs. Probably because I haven't had to ask someone something that might make them feel an emotion compared to me just listening to their bull haha. Glad to find someone else who likes this stuff tho. I love catching MEs and tells on tv interviews haha
