@SilencedStar That...sounds remarkably similar to my experience with the Xenosaga's actually. Played the first one a few times, only got to the boss fight with Orgula in two before I got disgusted and never did (or ever will) play the third one, it just completes the collection (though I did look through a guide and was rather disgusted by how much they just rip off of Xenogears, entire boss fights, aka the final ones, characters, Maria and big S. and slews of enemies, tasteless really.

If there was ever a game that needed a proper remake, it is Xenogears. The story was simple to follow, unlike the Xenosaga trilogy. Given the whole reincarnation backstory of this game I was expecting xenosaga to star an ancestor of Fei. Finished the first game and it felt like it was a generic space rpg with overly long cutscenes with a few refences. 2nd game I couldn't stand after a few hours, the third sits on my shelf unplayed.

@keymo1337 He was in the first episode of Xenosaga but not in the last 2, he is even credited in one of the Xenosaga's ep 1 OST.

@KratosDivine Chrono Trigger yes, Xenosaga no.

@PiratePrinceEdward That's because the same composer made the music for Chrono Trigger and Xenogears, he also made the music for Xenosaga ep 1.

This is in no realm of epic, this is truly legendary- still my favorite complex story of all time, it teaches you alot about life and its essences

screw FF7 if ANYTHING needs a remake its this game, the story was so deep and complex they had to flesh it out in half hour long text pieces with the swinging necklace in the backround, imagine what they could do now in means of retelling the story and sheer content

I feel kind of left out - I can't be nostalgic about this game because I've only just played it, being from the UK. I'd been meaning to get around to it for years, but shitting hell am I ever glad I did. This game is a timeless masterpiece. After all these years and games for something to come along and so effortlessly secure its place as one of the greatest games of all time is just... and this was in 1998! If only this game was given the budget and attention it deserved. I can only imagine.

@PiratePrinceEdward I think a lot of this song (the repeating chords, the bell ringing) was inspired by the Kingdom of Zeal's theme in Chrono Trigger

It will be hard for a game developer to ever top this game, and this song makes want to play it more. Thanks for reminding me how much I love it!
