It was recorded 14 August, 1947 in Hollywood. First released in the U.S. in 1948 on Columbia 38234; the flip side was "On a Turquoise Cloud". For the record above, the flip side is "Creole Love Call", from a September 1949 session.
The record shown and played here is a release from Denmark; many countries outside the U.S. used older label styles. They also tended to have better pressings, which is why this one sounds like it could've been recorded in the mid-1950's (to my ears).
What year is this record from? I know that Ellington recorded for dozens of labels over his career. Would I be right in judging by the label type, that this record be from the 30's?
