Advocates and legislators discuss the urgency of getting Connecticut children out of adult courts and prisons. Though Connecticut agreed to stop its Draconian practice of automatically treating 16-year-olds accused of crimes as adults, the reform faces the budget ax. That short-sighted approach will increase crime and put kids at risk. Youth who remain in the juvenile system are less likely to commit future crimes and are safe from victimization by older inmates.
