This year (2011) has seen the Imperialist assault on the Libyan Jamahariya. Gaddafi's Libya was targeted because of it's Socialist Pan African orientation.

There are several other left-leaning progressive governments which the US and their allies are desperate to "bring democracy" to. Venezuela is a prime example.
