Initial Review of the J118 e-cigarette, AKA VX2 or L88B This is a 3 piece unit (technically 4 - cart, mouthpiece, atomizer and battery).
This part is a bit out of order. The first part of it I redid after some more battery, atomizers, and liquid 'playing.' The second part remains valid, with some maybe interesting comparisons to the 510/Dura-C/Titan/Yeti and KR808D-1/Vapor King/Nebula/Zeus

  • Your review definitely inspired me to try a 510. I ordered a dura-c. I'm also going to give the manual switch thing a try. I drip carts, and I've already killed one j118 battery. I doubt it matters, but I am using 36mg ruyan juice. I'm getting thick clouds of smoke that look like your 510 hits.

  • I think you'll love the 510. The battery life is 'not good,' but you can use the J118 batteries with the 510 atty and cart.

If you *do* like the 510, get the PCC and a USB pass-through, should make life much nicer, and just use the J118 carts (gently, you can't push in all the way on a 510 atty).

I haven't given up on the J118 yet, just still, so far for me, 510 > J118 in all ways (except battery life)

  • Oh, huge major plus I just discovered: The J118 chargers work perfectly with the 510 batteries also. I think they might actually be the exact same unit (the chargers).

  • Yeah, the chargers will work, almost everything will swap except can't use a 510 battery on the J118 atty. The rest can be done/works fine. I think the J118 is really an attempt at a clone of the 510 but *very* slightly different.

Definitely higher draw on the 510, but I prefer it, more like a normal smoke versus sucking through an empty straw (J118, kinda), but I know some prefer the lighter draws.

Glad you like the 510, though! Manual battery version?

  • I see you doing a primer puff on the 118. I've never done this. Try not doing one and just doing a slow deliberate draw.

  • Honestly, doesn't matter. Camera I've been using is doing some auto-contrasting and adjustment...which basically means it's screwing with showing the vapor a bit. In watching a few of these, there is less vapor coming through on video than not.

Any auto battery e-cig isn't going to produce *less* vapor by not doing a primer puff, though. And the 510 is still far better throat hit, and usually vapor, than the J118.

  • Yup. I really like it. I have the Stick on the way also, so I hope Janty hurry up with that 510 adapter.

  • Got the dura-c today (good lord digitalcigs ships fast) and I have to say, I *get* why people love this unit. My only minor complaint is that the draw is a little bit more effort, but it's definitely something I'll get used to. It's more cigarette-like. I'm actually kinda prefering the manual button also.

  • crap, hit wrong button, meant to *reply*, not remove.

Well, I've seen the french 'silent' J118 review, and others.

I've removed the foil, filled via topping off as well as syringe, and finally cleaned the attys even when new out of the box.

It's helped somewhat, vapor production is ok at times, but throat hit is always lower than my 510. Putting the J118 carts on the 510 is fine though, so it's now due to the carts.

  • To make clear what I'm saying, your vapor production is a third of what I"m getting. If you want to see what I'm talking about, check out the econoclope video here on youtube.
