I thouht Holm ate europeans for breakfast ;). Holm is overrated. And refuse to fight other places than her own back yard where the judges and crowd are favourable. Well, she's out for good now.

@geppegep It's true that women boxers should be treated the same as men. But that means an equal right to be spared unnecessary punishment. In this fight Holm was subjected to a long, brutal beating which could have had tragic consequences. Go figure.

If by 'tough as hell' you mean boring as hell, I'd have to agree with you. Other than against Yankovich, Holm's policy as champion was to be as negative and soporific as possible. She now has no way back, as Mathis would annihilate her in any rematch, so she might as well divert into cage-fighting, table dancing or whatever and make whatever bucks she can in the time available to her.

The first time Ms. Holm goes to the canvas in round six did the ref. rule that a slip? It's clearly a knockdown. I hope someone from the state boxing comittee takes a look at this and gets more qualified people to referee fights at this level. This isn't foxy boxing at your local roadhouse bar on saturday night, these females train with top male fighters and are capable of injuring each other. As far as Holly's corner is concerned, imagine if Danica Patrick had a pit crew that stupid.
