Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad K-36 steam locomotives nos. 484 and 488 eastbound double header special crosses New Mexico State Highway 17 climbing the 4% grade between mileposts 338 and 337 with 9-car train just south of Colorado state line. Locomotive No. 484 will be cut from the train at the summit of Cumbres Pass to power a freight special to Antonito, CO running ahead of the regular passenger train. Saturday, June 19, 2010.

  • Great video. Thank you for sharing. This is not far from the Ghost Train of Mesita. In 1910, the San Luis Southern Railway was completed by a subsidiary of the Costilla Estates Development Company. This line was known as Colorado's loneliest railroad. The line served a connection with the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad at Blanca.
