@reivenlocke It's true that they lost their "bogeyman" status after 1989, but it was still looked upon with suspicion. We may never know what they could've been since 1991.

Yes, but the USSR of 89 - 91 was not the USSR from before that time as Glasnost was the face of the new Soviet Union when Gorbachev came into office and he became a positively lauded politician in the U.S. and the west. They definitely weren't thought of as the big bads they were in the past by the time '91 rolled around.

@reivenlocke The Berlin Wall came down in 1989, but the USSR was completely dissolved in 1991.

@reivenlocke Keep in mind that the character of Zangief was created when the Soviet Union was around, and since we were political enemies (me being an American), of course they "had" to create a bad guy out of him. You do not have to agree with it, but that's what happened.
