The cast is great. But the sets lack atmosphere and the tiny gingerbread house is ridiculous. Is Poland also ruled by these modern productions? At germany, it is like a revolution, all the traditional productions have been executed. Horror!

Why would you say the sets are ugly?! It is a moving set that is so colorful. And if you look at the children's room and the witch's house everything is larger as though seen through the eyes of a child. Just because it's not the same old production doesn't make it bad. OPERA IS ART! ART IS PROGRESSIVE! If every composer wrote in the same style since time began we wouldn't have this opera at all. Enjoy this production for what it is: a visual marvel with fantastic singing.
