@cheeryble I think his pause between "rejection of pleasure" and the rest of the sentence threw you off. Revisit 5:10 to 5:18. The full sentence is "Stoicism is characterized by a rejection of pleasure as the standard of human happiness and human felicity." It rejects the core principle of Epicureanism. It rejects not pleasure, but the _idea_ that pleasure is of supreme importance or is the best metric for human happiness.
