@stingisoyou Thank you for the suggestion. Actually traded my Kahr in for a S&W Jframe revolver 642 with crimson trace and I LOVE it. Does have recoil but I can manage it and its SO CUTE! I feel odd when the butt's not sticking me in the ribs :)
@ElizabethIrish If the .40S&W is too much recoil for you, I would suggest you look at the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380. It's just a bit smaller than the PM40(I own both), but the Bodyguard is considerably more manageable as for recoil. Also, it adds an integrated laser sight for low light situations.
If wondering, the P40 is a nice handgun too. It is about 1/2" longer barrel and 1/2" longer grip (so the pinky fits on grip). Mag release works better when fired more. Also must do the 'break in' for the barrel to smooth the sharp edges/tight fit. Also test different rounds - Winchester JHP and Hornady work well - be sure the tip is rounded/tapered well. I tried Federal JHP and it was too flat-nosed round, it would jam part of the time. Nice trigger, sort of a safety due to Double action.
A solid, compact pistol. Does kick. The extended mag (6-rd) gives spot for pinky. Of note, do NOT add the Pearce grip extension to the 5-rd.; it JAMS. Took off, fine again. Put on, jams again. Put rubber side panels upper side of grips; Just added Hogue Handall Jr. - it really improves the grip (trim the bottom). I had to emery cloth/sand the slide stop lever, it is sharp when new. Overall, it is light, thin, compact, concealable. Don Hume has nice holsters. Also mag pouch for left hip. Thanks.
My husband bought this gun for me, I'm thinking it will have too much recoil for me. Thanks for the review. I'll have to get a .22 - what would you recommend for a girl in a .22 carry revolver?
