Natalie's comments had everything to do with 911 and the resulting war in Afghanistan and, to a lessor extent, Iraq - the government's position was that Iraq was part of the overall increasing violence in the middle-east, justifying it's inclusion. While you might disagree, you don't go to a foreign country and shout your opposition to this country to the rooftops for all to hear. Regardless, she made her politics well known, so should have expected a backlash from her mostly conservative fans.

Actually, the people in the audience at the concert were mostly American who were in London protesting the war in Iraq. When they said 'We're on the good side with y'all' she was referring to the fact that they all opposed the war. It had nothing to do with nationalities.

Also, the concert took place in 2003, which was well over a year after the 9/11 attacks. (Although I don't know why you mentioned 9/11 in the first place as it has nothing to do with this matter.)

I really don't think you know any of them well enough to say that. And as an English person, your attitude towards the Dixie Chicks, calling them cunts, as well as other peoples attitudes paints a very ugly picture of your 'America, land of the free'. People aren't free at all.

At that concert in London (just a few months after the 911 attacks), they (Natalie) said "we're on the good side with y'all [Europeans]," meaning they were not on the side of the United States (evidently the bad side in her mind).

In my opinion, that's far worse than anything Natalie said about then President Bush - which was certainly bad enough in itself.
