  • what seat were you in?

  • @TheLiLD95 I honestly don't remember. I believe it was somewhere in the area of row 20? and obviously it was the seat on the far right

  • whats wake turbulance?

  • It is the turbulence that is caused by the wake of a departing or arriving aircraft.

  • Was the wake turbulence from another 737-800?

  • It was from a Continental 737, it was either a -700 or -800. I cannot remember.

  • @etin12 What is Google?

  • @aztlaxpuroazul Flew to St. Croix back in 1986 from Kennedy on a DC-10 and hit WT. Although I didn't know what it was then, it certainly scared the crap out of me! It was like hitting a speed bump in a car going a little too fast.

  • scary!

  • AA always gas dirty planes! But great video!

  • Wow -- that was the real thing... Thanks for the vid - thats a great example. The way I figure, if you actively search for wake turbulence - purely to observe and learn - then wake turbulence won't come looking for you, because I think they have the upper hand. It's the invisibility factor - gives them the advantage (unless you have a shoulder-mounted turbofan that you can use to break them up or literally blow them away).

  • dam did that wing just pull a total turn reversal due to the wake?

  • great vid dude, thx. this is an excellent representation of wake turb, the FAA/airlines could use this as training footage great shots! I've never been to DCA. I experienced my one brush (knowingly) with wake turb in 02-03 on a DL MD-88 BHM-ATL on the appr. to ATL at around 1000 ft at night...it was so freaky, everything was so calm no bumps, etc then it felt like we flew threw a brick wall ...sudden, sharp jolt then the pilots came on after lndg to expl we'd flown through wake turb
