@marcel32us Nice staff technique! I can really see the Chinese influence, parts of your form look alot like the Choy Li Fut staff form I learned from a friend years ago.

Nice form. But I can't stand how modern martial artists use those stupid competition weapons. They should do it with combat-grade weapons, only with blunt edges instead of sharp ones. Otherwise the whole thing loses meaning and becomes a form of dance. It's like a man who only shoots paintball guns claiming to be a rifle marksman. This form would have been 100 times better if it had been done with an oak staff or even an iron one. Then I would be very impressed.
Awesome job on that form. Did you create it yourself or is it a designed part of your training? I would like to start working on it for myself and I want to make sure I credit it properly.

@slambiase Thanks for your comment. I designed that form myself using parts of Steff set 1 & 2 from the Kenpo Karate curriculum, and parts of a staff form I learned in China. The form is now part of our curriculum for black belt. I'd love to see a video of you doing the form, so surprise me!!

Great form. Good technique and excellent speed and power. There was one point I saw, with a back kick that he wasn't looking Where he kicked (which is important for odvious reasons) and the stances seemed much too shallow, even taking into account the persons build. It seems sort of rigid at points as well.
Otherwise excellent.

What I really appreciate about the form is there is never a dull moment. There is just enough "flash" to show proficiency with the weapon and just the right amount of striking to show how devastating someone trained in this art can be. The execution, creativity and physical expression is exactly what a kata should be.
Great Job! Thank you for this inspiring video.

Thanks for your kind words. I'd really like to see what you come up with in your own staff kata.
