  • I LOVE him in this role, despite the indifferent singing. He is so great in the characterization!

  • Shortly after Ruddigore opened, Gilbert met a friend at his club. "How's Bloodygore going?" asked the friend.

    "You mean Ruddigore," said Gilbert.

    "Same thing," said the friend.

"Not all", replied Gilbert."If I say that I admire your ruddy countenance - which I do - it doesn't mean that I like your bloody cheek - which I don't."

  • THAT was a true scare master Vincent Price rest in peace!

  • @billh891 Becuase they are 'The Bad Baronets of Ruddigore'.

  • I could see him as Sir Roderic more easily. I would love to hear him sing "When the night wynd howls."

  • It's the part he was born to play - though not to sing, unfortuately!

  • Bloody is a no-no (at the time) to use as an expletive. Ruddy was OK---so, basically, if you break it apart the title was a bit of double meaning---Ruddy Gore

  • @billh891

    Would you be so kind?

  • A rare piece---does anyone recall why the title is Ruddigore? I would be happy to elucidate.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!
