Great tactical run by Cruz. He ran the perfect race by staying on the leader's shoulder and guarding his position. He ran the whole race just inside the outside edge of lane 1, meaning he probably covered a few extra metres than necessary. Coe ran practically the whole race in lane 2, resulting in him covering more like 809m and running the equivalent to about a 1:42.5. It's not surprising he couldn't hold on to Cruz with about 80m to go.
