President Rajapaksa today appealed to Asian leaders to take all precautions to prevent harm that could cause to the cultures and heritages due to the advancement of information and communication technology.

The President said the Government will offer benefits to the people. The people should be the final beneficiaries. He said the Government firmly believes the information communication technology is the driving force of economy in future. Therefore, he noted that the Government has given priority to ICT and its development activities.

The President was speaking at the inauguration of a conference and the E-Asia 2009, Asias premier ICT Exhibition. A group of scholars and policy makers of 30 countries are attending.

The exhibition organized in parallel to this event will continue at the BMICH until Friday the 4th. The President was honoured by countries of the Asian region appreciating his contributions on behalf of the upliftment of the information technology sector in Sri Lanka. Minister Prof. Tissa Witharana and Presidents Secretary Lalith Weeratunga were present.

  • very very wrong decision by sarath fonseka in this time. this really must not be happened. all sinhala people are waiting to repay for president mahinda rajapaksha for his great leader ship..
