I had been in Virtual Infrastructures workshop with Andrew and others on Sunday. Gosh I miss Bell Labs. Anyway, I eavesdropped on a confab he was having with someone after some other session, who can remember which one, in which he started talking about MD5. I had to run somewhere else, but asked him if I could talk to him about MD5 sometime later. He agreed wholeheartedly. We didn't manage to do so til this last day of LISA, but it was worth the wait, imo.
I should've kept recording, cuz as Andrew and I walked back to the much noisier part of our hallway track, I asked him what he thought of my new favorite Tshirt from Google Information Security. He said something remarkably witty close to, "We all grow up, someday." I laughed, paused, and said, "That felt extraordinarily like a 'young padawan' moment," at which he guffawed hugely, patted me on the back, and we walked back to our colleagues in the noisy hallway.
You just can't make that stuff up. Thanks, Andrew!
