@SpartanXan117 It's when the character knows there's a plot or that he's in a story. Or speaks to the camera or audience directly.
Basically he's supposed to be acting in a fantasy story, but breaks into reality by talking to the audience/camera or mentioning the storyline.
A set typically has 3 walls, and the 4th is the invisible one separating the cameras/audience from the actors. The actors are supposed to pretend they're not there, and by talking to them, break a 4th wall.
