    The chajras are sandwiched between whole bamboos on top of which the slates (or any other kind of roofing material) can rest. They provide a beautiful ceiling!

    @field16: there's slate roofing on top. The split bamboos are only secondary support and a ceiling. No leakage issues at all!

    growing nearby and would like to use it as you have, for lite roofing support.

  • I'm confused by why he splits the bamboo so many times. Doesn't that make it easier for the rain to leak through the roof?
