Thanks, after looking at it i found a spring that was pulling it into reverse quicker and not letting it go into full forward. So good to go now thanks again.

Hello, nice tractors. I just picked up an old Allis-Chalmer 712H. Everything works good but when i put it in reverse it feels like a turbo kicks in. Forward doesn't seem to have the same git up and go. Can you tell me if that seems right. Thanks for any info you can give me.

The later models are not my cup of tea, but it sounds like a simple adjustment on the engagement lever is needed to equal out the throw. Those Sunstrand hydro trannys are pretty easy to adjust. Just lift the seat pan, jack the back of the tractor off the ground, start it and observe the movement of the linkage when going from forward to reverse and adjust the rod so you have more forward action. This should give you a faster forward speed and slow reverse to normal. Good Luck!!

@Shaggydogify To be honest, I really never even tried until I needed to move my 725 and didn't want to have to push it. lol

@boonecrew54 Heya Shaun! Things here are progressing at a snails pace, but at least I'm not going in reverse. I like a good running engine! I've got a couple that have been tucked away in a corner for the past 5 years that I think I'll pull out and tinker with. Both are vertical shafts, which is why they've been sitting. All my applications use the horizontal except for the 728 Broadmoor, and that was an easy freshen up. I'm hoping this one 15hp I/C engine I have is a good runner. We'll see!

@ZippoVarga good lucky with that buddy. if you can at all make some vids of it like when you get it in i would like to see how you set it up in the tractor.

@boonecrew54 I'm not planning on putting it in anything. I've never ran the engine. It was a part of a trade for some work I did. I'll make a video of it running though!
