  • really, well why don't you go to Lubin and Meyer who sue doctors when the kids parents murder the kid and get millions of dollars in verdict for the criminal parents yet string cancer patients along until they are nearly dead. It is all relative. It could be worse you could have had a case ruined by a lawyer not caring at all.

  • @dimitrismemory I'm sorry to learn about your troubles. It sounds awful. This video is designed to explain to injured victims why every case is different and every case has a different value. Although I do not know the attorneys that you speak about, every attorney in New York who takes on a personal-injury, medical malpractice or wrongful death lawsuit is required to maintain the highest ethical standards. Lawyers who do not live up to those standards are often taken to task.

  • Mostly, it depends on how stupid and ridiculous the jury happens to be.

  • @rrhynes If you have ever sat on a jury in a civil case, you would know that statement is inaccurate. If however you prefer to get details from news reports that reflect only the most sensationalistic results, then that explains the comment above. Most juries do the right thing, and after being in practice for 22 years, I have not found any attorney who can pull the wool over a jury's eyes.

  • @lawmed1 Are you serious? If you really believe that..why does it matter to have a good attorney? One that brings in the family to elicit sympathy.have the accuser testify how their life was so perfect before the injury to magnify the case..Do you think medical malpractice cases are at all about the medical portion or about eliciting sympathy? If you really believe what you wrote you are either a fool, complete liar or both...

  • @123neurosurgeon I'm so glad you had the opportunity to leave this comment. Your characterization of what I I wrote fails to educate the reader about your true thoughts.

Instead of calling someone names, it might be more helpful to instead educate the reader and point out things that may be technically inaccurate or have counterpoints. In that light, I invite you to submit a guest blog post

  • @123neurosurgeon that I will post on my medical malpractice website. In fact, I challenge you to create an educational guest blog post that discusses the medical aspects and your viewpoint of these types of cases. This way, you can truly let your cynicism shine through and I will give you the perfect forum for it. To take me up on my offer, simply e-mail me your blog post to: lawmed10@yahoo.com. I look forward to reading it.

  • @lawmed1 Sorry sir. Punitive damages are ridiculous and serve little purpose. If you're trying to convince me of the nobility of lawsuits, you're barking up the wrong tree. I realize that most lawsuits awards are hardly worth noting, but the fact there attorneys who pursue excessive awards , and sometimes get them, shows me the system is heavily flawed. By the way, the jury selection process is bullshit and is an bastardization of what it's supposed to embody. No selection, just jury of peers.

  • So True!! It even depends on what you did for a living, how much money you made, and how smart you are!
