Panthers vs Raiders 2012: Carolina Continues Strong Finish, Beats Punchless Oakland 17-6

After winning by a score of 17-6 over the Oakland Raiders in Week 16, the Carolina Panthers have now won 4 of their past 5 games and improve to 6-9 on the season, matching their 2011 win total. Cam Newton managed the game well and Luke Kuechly and the Carolina defense suffocated Oakland's offense (allowing just 189 total yards), which played most of the day with Matt Leinart at QB who entered the game early for the injured Carson Palmer. Newton tossed a 23 yard touchdown to Steve Smith in the first quarter, and after he added his 22nd career rushing TD just before halftime, Oakland was never able to make a real push and wound up falling to 4-11.
